Solomon's Early Life
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Solomon came from a family of 78 people, coming out of the war, he was the only one who survived. He had two brothers and three sisters. His parents were named Jacob and Toby, his brothers: Moishe and Baruch, his sisters: Sarah, Rivka and Leah, all were killed. His mother and older sister were killed when the Jewish Police caught him and he was forced to work along side other jews cleaning snow from railroad tracks. When he returned home, he found out that his mother and older sister had been killed when the Germans demanded gold and furs and they said they had none. (January 1941)
His father was killed in April of 1942. He had gone to buy bread from children that smuggled it into the ghetto when he was shot in the back by a German, because someone claimed he stole bread from the boy. His remaining two sisters and and two brothers were sent to Treblinka on July 22, 1942 and he never saw them again.
Solomon's life as he knew it might have changed much quicker had he not been in the furrier business. He makes things out of fur, such as coats, which were seen as valuable. This allowed him to stay out of the camps for much longer than others.
